Dear Naughty & Girl X,

Were you guys popular in high school? Not that I think you wouldn't have been - because I'm sure you were. Totally prom queen and all that shit. Except maybe you were in the AV club. It's sort of a toss up.

AV Prom Queen

Dear AVPQ,

Naughty had braces and acne. I on the other hand had well veiled contempt. Which means that yes, I was sort of popular or whatever the fuck that means. I got to go to a lot of parties and never had to buy my own drugs.

At my school, it didn't really seem like anyone was really super popular. There wasn't any one clique that 'ruled the school' or anything Hollywood like that. And we don't have a Prom Queen or Homecoming shit or anything either, so there was never a reason to put ones popularity on display.

I was a cheerleader which didn't help the popularity game (cheerleading is sort of a joke in Canada) but it was a lot of fun so I did it anyway. I also was in a lot of clubs and groups. This was mainly because I didn't really like anyone and didn't understand why. I figured if I joined enough clubs etc I'd meet enough of the school population and would eventually meet people that I didn't want to sneer at. This didn't happen, instead I just met more and more people that I didn't like. So I went to parties and did lots of drugs instead which I found to be really quite a good alternative.

Maybe I would have really liked the Audio Visual club people, but I didn't speak Klingon so I wasn't allowed to join.

Girl X
